Water Stories

Andy CampbellOpening Up

Water stories is a collection of six narratives that lead you on a journey through the element of water. Each story is told through sound, words and music, and was inspired by a work of art. Click on the links to the art works as you listen to each stories, and immerse yourself in a meditative, audio, visual experience.

As we jump into the minds of each character, we hear their physical, mental and emotional soundscape. For example, a man with Alzheimer’s finds himself on a beach, confused about how he got there. We bring his setting to life with the crash of waves, the whistle of wind, the creaking of a sailboat. As we hear his thoughts, an electric guitar underscores his feelings of nostalgia and anxiety. Other stories include a boy’s contemplations in a swimming pool, a woman’s sensual sunbathing experience, and market sellers going for a night swim.

Although each story features diverse characters, feelings and waterscapes, they are still all linked by the same element. Just like humans, they are all different, but fundamentally linked: our bodies are mostly made of water after all. Moreover, this ode to water shows us just how important the availability and sustainable management of water is through a new, moving form of storytelling.
