One Lonely World

Andy CampbellOpening Up

One Lonely World is an interactive narrative/poetry work with themes of post-anthropocentrism, domestication and loneliness. It uses the visual and emotional aesthetic of the post-Anthropocene to create a canvas for poetry about existentialism, loneliness and nihilism, as well as creation, passion and beginning. The goal behind the work was to explore this visual aesthetic as a device of amplification for these themes. The dog in the game suffers from thoughts of loneliness and struggles from the fact that most of its survivor traits have been bred out. It is looking for comfort, food and love. In the same way, some of the poetry treats the dog’s loneliness and search for compassion as an allegory for the queer experience, living in a world that is inherently hostile to one’s being.
We humans are not only the creators of our own downfall. We drag a lot more into non-existence with us.
