Choke On Your Forked Tongue

Andy CampbellOpening Up

Choke On your Forked Tongue is a satirical work that aims to poke fun at the current social media climate. Figureheads like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg own the new town squares where we meet and converse cross nations. These town squares have turned into the personal political playground for the ultra wealthy. Satire’s like my work aim to show how ridiculous and over the top this type of ownership is.
In the work you take control of someone using TwatBook to keep in contact with friends during a pandemic. The platform has newly been purchased by someone only known as “Owner”. The first thing this new owner does it unban alt right and Nazi accounts, while banning those on the left. Slowly but surely you watch as your friends list becomes smaller until you are all alone. At that point you get banned yourself and the game ends.
My main problem with this work is that, at this point, it is no longer satirical. It’s just a representation of how bad it is. So I guess I failed. How do you satirise that which is already beyond hyperbole?
