As Hermit Crabs Do is a low-res atmospheric narrative experience about taking a picture in a greenhouse after a massive climate-wrought societal collapse. It’s also an invitation to explore spaces in a different light, to imagine them beyond their intended purpose. In this instance, the greenhouse – it serves as a home in a world where air has become unbreathable.
The gameplay is contemplative and stripped down. You may roam the greenhouse and observe the passage of time or trigger hidden dialogue by looking in certain directions. Once taken, the picture is saved to an actual file on the computer.
