She found the image wedged up on an underpass of some abandoned railroad tracks, and the image caught and held her imagination, propelling her to an obsessive search and journey. He meets her in their college speech class and is intrigued by her reticence, her mysteries. The mysteries cover sinister AI connections and computer failures along with art history. She leaves him her journal, and in return, he leaves a note for their professor: And I have spent so much time putting this all in Twine, linking the ideas, typing out what she left me, what I know. This exercise clarified some of the issues, obscured others, just like you said it would. I think I understand now, and I got that message this morning, finally. The only thing I can do now is to wait now with my computer at the coordinates, searching for her in that forest of images. So, I don’t think either of us will be back in the class any more….
Entanglements is a Twine work with 23 nodes in two parallel structures (his and her journal and notebooks). The images are from Mid Journey Version 2 and 6. The work also comprises a physical instantiation of archives housed in the Electronic Literature Lab at the Washington State University in Vancouver (WSUV)in Washington, US. This is a collaboration between Bill Bly and Deena Larsen.
