Dan Hett

Dan Hett is an award-winning writer, artist and games developer from Manchester, whose career has taken him through building creative technology and artwork for the likes of Havas, the BBC, Sky, TATE and the Open Data Institute, with his artwork touring as far afield as Karachi, Seattle and Buenos Aires. He’s also the creative director and founder of independent games studio PASSENGER, who recently released their first large-scale work CLOSED HANDS – an interactive fiction project exploring radicalisation, extremism, and identity politics in the UK, which launched in March 2021 alongside digital partner HOME. In 2021 Dan was awarded the prestigious New Media Writing Prize for his unflinching interactive story ‘c ya laterrrr’, and is currently working on a games-influenced script for a major national broadcaster, as well as a similarly boldly structured science fiction novel, Arc Boundary. Dan has written extensively on technology and digital culture for The Guardian, The Observer, Rockpapershotgun and the BBC.
