Today I will Fly

Andy CampbellOpening Up

Today I Will Fly was made as electronic literature for a simple university assignment, yet it was not so simple. On this day you wake up, and you know how it will end. Today you will fly, your wings will grow and you will leave this earth for good.

The story is a myriad of things, a critique on capitalism, a look into mental health, a commentary on suicide, and a story told not just with words but through art. I love you; I hate you, I love my mom, I hate job interviews, I love my morning coffee. It is an interactive fiction piece where you stumble through your last day alive scattered into poems and short prose. It’s raw and it does not shy away from how things are, from what you brush under the rug and pretend isn’t there.

The text is accompanied by repurposed pieces of artwork and photos all created throughout different phases of my life where at points I was at my lowest, some express more than words ever could.
