Shakespeare’s Hamlet, articulated through the soliloquy “to be or not to be,” foregrounds a moral dilemma often interpreted as existential. Although Hamlet’s conflict arises from his position as Prince of Denmark, such ethical uncertainty is neither culturally specific nor limited to royalty; rather, it reflects a broader human condition transcending time, context, and status. To Click or Not to Click, a collection of collaborative Twine-based digital short stories, reframes this universality through ordinary human and non-human experiences in diverse Indian contexts.
‘Hamlet Revisited’ by Mehulkumar Desai offers a gamified re-adaptation that grants readers agency through branching choices. Yet, despite this interactivity, the narrative ultimately converges with Shakespeare’s tragic arc, testing the resilience of Hamlet’s moral architecture in a digital environment. ‘Your Garden is My Home’ by Shanmugapriya T and Simran Bhimjyani juxtaposes the dilemmas of Shipra, a single mother, and a mother crow, foregrounding parallel struggles of care and survival across human and non-human worlds. ‘My Femininity OR My Family’ by K. Kavitha explores the identity-based conflict of a gender-nonconforming child negotiating selfhood amid familial and societal pressures.
Together, these multi-linear narratives invite readers to shape experiential pathways while engaging with contemporary dilemmas of agency, belonging, and care.
